International Armaan finishes 7th

Silverstone, April 18: Armaan Ebrahim delivered a creditable seventh place finish in the second round of the Formula 2 championship, here on Sunday for his first points of the 2011 season.

Armaan, the 21–year old from Chennai, missed a top–10 points scoring position in the first round on Saturday by a whisker as he ended up 11th after starting 16th on the grid.

On Sunday, Armaan, sponsored by JK Tyre, Amaron, Cornerstone Sports & Entertainment Pvt Ltd and Trimex, qualified eighth for the second round and finished in the same position, but was promoted to seventh after one of the front–finishers was black–flagged.

â€Å"I started the second race well and made one place, but the car in front of me spun at the Beckett\´\s corner, forcing me to run wide. It cost me three track positions, but I managed to get back into eighth.

In the first qualifying session on Saturday, we were three–tenths slower on new tyres than on old and I did my best to finish among points, but couldn\´\ .

We just could not find the right balance in the car the whole weekend and finally made some progress in Qualifying 2 on Sunday, but that was too late for a Podium attack. Considering all this, it was nice to come away with some points.

The car was really good in the test session last month when we were in the top 5, but over the weekend we struggled with the dampers and there was absolutely no grip in the medium and high speed corners, said Armaan.

The next two rounds are will be held at Magny–Cours (France) on the May 13–15 weekend.
